The 2015 Ferrari California T is powered by a new engine, a turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8 with 553 hp and 557 lb-ft of torque. The turbo V-8 is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The Ferrari California T is a rear-drive hardtop convertible and is Ferrari’s entry-level model. With its new turbocharged V-8, the California T achieves decent gas mileage at 16/23 mpg city/highway.
Like the rest of the models in Ferrari’s lineup, buyers can personalize their California T cars via the extensive customization options available. There are more than 30 exterior colors, six wheel designs, nine brake caliper colors, and various accents in chrome or black. For the interior, customers can opt for leather and/or Alcantara upholstery, contrast stitching and piping, eight carpet colors, four types of sport seats, and carbon fiber and aluminum trim. Those looking for performance upgrades can also add a sport exhaust system and a Magneride suspension with two modes.
The California T’s turbocharged V-8 provides plenty of power for all situations and is tuned to work like a high-revving naturally aspirated engine, since it builds power in a linear fashion. While its suspension with magnetic shock absorbers doesn’t have as many modes as the ones found in the 458 range, those modes help sharpen the car’s handling. Refinement is a strong point, with a quiet cabin regardless of whether the roof is up or down, thanks to extensive use sound-deadening materials.
